Week 50 – ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas

Not a creature was stirring, not even a Quazar;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that Darth Vader soon would be there;
The young lings were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of droids danced in their heads;
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter’s nap,
When out on the ice planet there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen star
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects afar,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a tie fighter, and eight troopers in gear,
With a fierce driver, so lively and eager,
I knew in a moment it must be Lord Vader.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
“Now, Stormtrooper #324, Stormtrooper #526 now, #499 and #123!
On, #616 on #987 on, #1336 and #333!
To the top of the bay! to the top of the port!
Now blast away! blast away! lightspeed all!”
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the galaxy-top the coursers they flew,
With the tie fighter full of troopers, and Lord Vader too.
And then, in a screeching, I heard on the roof
The marching and chanting of each little troop.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney Lord Vader came with a bound.
He was dressed all in black, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of sabers he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes — how they burnt! his vents how merry!
His cheeks were like death, his nose like a coal!
His rigid mouth was drawn up like a goal,
And the links of his chain was as black as the night;
The grip of a vice he held tight in his teeth,
And the cape it encircled his shoulders like a wreath;
He had a strong face and an armoured belly,
That shook then ground, when he laughed like a bowlful of frozen jelly.
He was strong and fierce, a right old hard arse,
And I cried when I saw him, in spite of his laugh;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had everything to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his fighter, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
“I am Lord Vader, and to all a dead-night.”
I hope you like it, I did spend a good amount of time composing the newer version 🙂
Now now dont hate me here a very happy 2011 to you all! I have had a little holiday, just to myself.. ill keep it short 🙂 My week 51 didnt arrive in the mail when it was supposed too! So I have held off posting Week 51 and Week 52… and this is where the adventures of Stormy Stormtrooper will come to an abrupt end 🙁
I have a few other exciting posts to put up to celebrate the beginning of 2011, as well as discussing where I would like to go throughout the year! I have decided not to begin another Project 52 or Project 365. However I will discuss this more in my welcome to 2011 in the coming days.
Till next time..
